Manama: A Bahraini court has sentenced a young man to three years in prison for abusing girls on a plane. The court found that the 25-year-old defendant was under the influence of alcohol and had sexually abused girls. The apex court had yesterday rejected the youth's appeal against the jail sentence earlier passed by the lower court.

The incident took place on a flight from London to Bahrain. The accused, who was under the influence of alcohol, spoke obscenely to two girls under the age of 16 who were traveling in a plane and tried to harass them. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment for acts and torture that were not in line with public decency.

The accused, who was on his way from London's Heathrow Airport, started behaving rudely towards the two girls on the flight and  Went to one of the kids and first talked to the obscene redhead. But when the girl raised her voice and told him to stay away, he went near another girl's seat and started harassing her.

There was also a nudity show near the girls. When they touched their bodies, the children started screaming and making noise. The girls lodged a complaint with the police after arriving in Bahrain on the instructions of the flight attendants. However, the accused claimed that he was under the influence of alcohol and did not commit the crime consciously. He also claimed that he accidentally touched the bodies of the girls when the plane crashed into the air.

But the court rejected all of the young man's arguments. The court ruled that all the crimes had been clearly proven and that the defendant was responsible for all the acts committed on the plane and should be punished. The verdict was appealed to the Supreme Court of Criminal Appeals and later to the Supreme Court, but the sentence was upheld.
