DELIVERY SERVICES CHARGING EXORBITANT PRICES

Kuwait City: The costs levied by delivery providers and their relationship to the price rise are currently being investigated by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Fahd Al-Shariaan, the minister of commerce and industry, has given the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Sector immediate instructions to conduct an investigation and submit a report on the complaint regarding the impact of delivery companies' exorbitant fees on customers and price increases. 


The minister took this action in response to a criticism that delivery services collect money from both restaurants and customers by taking a sizeable portion of the purchase price from businesses that advertise on their websites. Because it is impossible to leave the market in this circumstance, the complainant emphasized the need for government intervention. She described the situation as a form of monopoly that has nothing to do with supply and demand factors and has caused a notable price increase on the part of consumers.
