Manama : Bahrain to replace flexi-work permit system The Labor Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) has released the details of the labor reforms. Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who visited the Bahrain Chamber on Wednesday, announced the labor reform measures.

LMRA Chief Executive Officer Noof Abdulrahman Jamsheer clarified the new conditions. Those who currently have a flexi permit and do not have a statutory work permit must register their name at a special labor registration center. Noof Abdulrahman Jamsheer said that those who absconded from their sponsors and those with criminal records could not be registered. Applications from those arriving on visitor visas will also not be accepted. Workers residing in Bahrain can register.

Registered workers cannot get commercial registration. If you want to carry out a profession that requires a special license, you should obtain the same license from the concerned authorities. Registered workers have to pay health fees and insurance. Inspections will be conducted to find employers and workers involved in illegal activities. The Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the private sector will jointly start new labor registration centers for the registration process of workers. Noof Abdulrahman Jamsheer said that registration will be facilitated on the 'Sijilat' portal to make the process easier.
