Riyadh: In a major digital services update, the Saudi Ministry of Interior has enabled expatriates to update their passport information online via the Abshir platform, eliminating the need to visit Jawazat branches in person.
The new service is accessible for a fee of 69 riyals, including VAT. To use this facility, the individual must be over 18 years old and can access the feature through the Abshir platform by navigating to Khidmathi > Jawazat > Hawiyat Muqeem services > Update Passport Information.
There are specific conditions to use the service:
The user must declare that the passport has not been lost.
There must be no 'hurub' (absconding case) against the individual.
No unpaid traffic fines or security restrictions should exist.
The person must be alive and holding a valid Iqama.
The service can only be availed once every five years per worker.
This update is expected to ease bureaucratic procedures and support digital transformation in Saudi Arabia’s expat services sector.
