Kuwait to Face 50°C Heat and Dust Storms Amid Strong Winds

  • 19/05/2025

The Director of Kuwait’s Meteorology Department, Dharar Al-Ali, has warned that the country will experience extreme heat and adverse weather conditions in the coming days. Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Ali stated that active northwesterly winds exceeding 60 km/h will cause dust storms and significantly reduce horizontal visibility to below 1,000 meters in some exposed areas.

The extreme weather is forecast to intensify on Tuesday and Wednesday, with temperatures reaching between 47°C and 49°C, and possibly peaking at 50°C. Sea conditions will also be rough, with wave heights expected to exceed six feet.

Al-Ali explained that this weather pattern is the result of an extension of the Indian monsoon low, bringing in a hot and dry air mass that contributes to the rise in temperature and wind activity. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions during this period of severe heat and low visibility.
