HURRICANE SHAHEEN, RAIN CONTINUE IN OMAN

Muscat: Hurricane Shaheen hit the coast of Suwaiq in southern Batina Governorate, Oman, on Sunday night, causing severe damage. But no official confirmation of the damage has been released yet. 


The low-lying areas of Suwaiq and Kabura districts are flooded. It is reported that it is still raining in the southern and northern Batina governorates. Hurricane Shaheen lashed the Musannah-Suwak provinces with strong winds and heavy rains just after 8pm Oman time on Sunday. 

The hurricane had a speed of 120 to 150 kilometers per hour. Later the speed was reduced from 102 to 116 km / h. The Oman Disaster Response Force said in a statement on Monday that it had rescued people trapped inside a vehicle in the Wadi area of ​​Suwaiq. 

According to official reports, Hurricane Shaheen has killed at least three people in Oman, including one child. The country still declares a public holiday.
