Project to Construct Solar Power Plants at Barka Health Village Begins in Oman

Muscat: Nama Electricity Distribution Company has officially launched a project to construct solar power plants at Al-Quwairat Health Village in Barka, Oman. The initiative is part of the company's social investment efforts and aims to promote renewable energy use in the local community.

The project was inaugurated at the office of the Governor of Barka, Sayyid Tariq bin Mahmud bin Ali Al Busaidi. An introductory meeting was held with the participation of various government and community institutions, members of the Municipal Council, as well as management representatives and engineers from Nama Distribution Company and the contractor, Al Forsan Al Azra Company.

During the meeting, the engineering team presented the details of the solar power project. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce electricity bills for beneficiary families and aligns with Oman Vision 2040's goals to advance the green energy sector.

Nama Electricity Distribution Company highlighted that the government’s supportive policies, including equal tariff rates for solar and conventional electricity, have encouraged greater adoption of solar energy among both locals and expatriates. Experts noted a growing interest in installing solar systems across residential and commercial establishments, signaling a positive shift toward sustainable energy solutions in Oman.
