Royal Oman Police Urges Caution on Roads During Ramadan

  • 12/03/2025

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued a warning to drivers about the dangers of speeding, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. Many motorists rush to reach their destinations before Maghrib prayer, leading to reckless driving and an increased risk of accidents. Fatigue from fasting further adds to the dangers on the road. The ROP emphasized the importance of maintaining speed limits, keeping a safe distance, and avoiding sudden lane changes to prevent collisions and ensure road safety.

To promote traffic safety during Ramadan, ROP has outlined key guidelines for drivers and pedestrians. Motorists are advised to avoid last-minute trips before Iftar to reduce congestion, get adequate rest before driving, and refrain from using mobile phones on the road. Additionally, pedestrians and cyclists are urged to use designated lanes for their safety. The authorities stress that patience and adherence to traffic rules are crucial in ensuring a safe and peaceful Ramadan for all.
