Kuwait names cabinet members from the opposition, as well as a new finance minister.

Following a standoff between previous governments and the parliament, Kuwait has formed a new cabinet with a new finance minister and three opposition legislators.
Mohammad al-Fares, the oil minister, was reappointed in the new cabinet announced on Tuesday.

Abdul Wahab al-Rasheed, the head of the non-governmental Kuwait Economic Society, took over as finance minister from Khalifa Hamada.Khaled al-Saeed, Kuwait's new health minister, succeeded his predecessor in steering the country through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The announcement of a new cabinet ended a month-long stalemate by naming 15 new government ministers who will have to deal with a slew of political and financial issues.
This is the Gulf state's third cabinet this year, after the previous governments resigned in a standoff that stymied the state's fiscal reform efforts.
