MAJORITY OF '60'S STILL UNABLE TO RENEW WORK PERMITS IN KUWAIT

Kuwait City: The official gazette of Kuwait, Kuwait Al-Yawm, published the long-awaited decision by the Public Authority for Manpower to allow non-graduate expatriates aged 60 and up to renew their work permits on Sunday, January 30, 2022. However, the majority of expatriates are still unable to renew their work permits because the insurance companies listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange have yet to agree on the value of the health insurance. For this category of workers, PAM has imposed two restrictions for renewing their work permits: a charge of 250 dinars and an irrevocable insurance policy from one of the Kuwait Stock Exchange's insurance providers.

The majority of sixty-year-olds, on the other hand, are still unable to renew their work licences since insurance firms have yet to establish the insurance fee. PAM has enabled the 'Ashal' automated system to accept transactions from non-graduate 60-year-old expatriates, but only those who are exempt from paying fees — spouses of Kuwaiti women and their sons, foreign wives of Kuwaitis, and those having Palestinian credentials — can use it.
