Kuwait City: Thousands of Arab students are trapped in Ukraine, according to a local newspaper. Students in and around the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, have been left reeling from the effects of the war. More than 10,000 Arab students are studying at various universities in Ukraine. However, many who have come here are struggling to get food or even water. Without toilets and blankets to escape the bone-chilling cold, many are just sitting on the ground and looking for a way to escape. The students made it clear on social media that many of their mobiles were running out of charge and did not know any exact information outside.

They do not have blankets or other facilities to withstand the cold. Many people only have coats to protect them from the cold. Mohammed, an Iraqi national, said he had tried to contact the embassy when the war broke out but no one had picked up the phone. There were an estimated 5,500 Iraqi nationals in Ukraine. 450 of them are students. The student revealed that many had fled to neighboring Poland and Romania as soon as the war began. Students from Arab countries such as Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia are also studying in Ukraine. Meanwhile. Syrian students from Ukraine said everyone was staying at the hostel and moving forward as instructed by the embassy.

'We are still in the hostel. The Egyptian embassy says stand still. We have been instructed not to go out. We are now moving forward by trusting the embassy. According to various sources, every effort is being made to repatriate us. We hope to be able to return home. The food stalls are closed but all the essentials are still available, ”said Sameer, a student. The Lebanese students said they had not yet been able to contact the embassy.
