KUWAIT'S HUMAN RIGHTS BUREAU OPPOSES RELIGIOUSLY MOTIVATED LABOR BAN

Kuwait City: The Human Rights Bureau has issued a statement condemning the ban on the recruitment of workers from certain countries on religious grounds. Ali al-Baghli, a lawyer who is a member of the board of directors of the National Bureau of Human Rights and the head of the grievance redressal committee, called for respect for the values ​​of religion, human rights and the rule of law in the country. His response was to refer to Article 29 of the Kuwaiti Constitution.


The law makes it clear that all human beings are equal and must be treated equally before the law and not discriminated against on the basis of language, religion or gender. Al-Baghli called on the Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development and the President of the Federation of Consumer Cooperative Societies to take action to ensure that justice is upheld and that human rights defenders are protected.
