Kuwait City: Dr. Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Bahr, head of the Eye Center and the head of the Council of Eye Departments at the Ministry of Health, has said that celebrating national holidays is a legal right of all but should not turn out to be detrimental to the health of another. His response comes as the practice of throwing balloons at pedestrians and vehicles is on the rise again.

Some people continue to use pistols, water sprayers and water-filled balloons and throw them at others. This can have serious consequences for the face, especially the eyes. As part of the National and Liberation Day celebrations, 92 such cases reached the Mohammed Abdul Rahman Al Bahr Eye Center. This includes 75 cases of scratches or bruises on the cornea. There are also cases of eyelid injury and injury around the eye.
