AN ONLINE SYSTEM FOR FINDING PARKING AT DUBAI MALLS IS ON ITS WAY

Dubai: There would be no need to look for parking in malls, since an online system is being developed in Dubai. Majeed Al Futtaim, the owner and operator of Dubai's biggest shopping malls, is putting in place a new system that will allow consumers to pre-book parking online before arriving at the mall. On weekends and holidays, customers must wait for a long period to find parking at Dubai's malls. The solution is currently being implemented. 


According to Fouad Sharaf, general director of Majid Al Futtaim Properties UAE Shopping Malls, the online parking booking system is now in testing at the Mall of the Emirates. It will soon be expanded to additional malls. The Mall of the Emirates app allows shoppers to reserve parking in advance. Booking is completed by entering the vehicle's licence plate. Furthermore, arrival time and parking will be designated in a separate zone. 

Sharaf said he thought of such a system because the congestion, which was previously experienced only on weekends, is now felt on weekdays as well. Advance booking of the parking service is initially free. At the same time, there is a special parking facility for members of the 'Share' Reward Scheme. Customers can park themselves by reading the system vehicle number at the entrance and opening the gate. The Mall of the Emirates and the city center are some of the popular shopping centers under the Majid Al Futtaim Group.
