AFTER G7 SUMMIT IN GERMANY, PM MODI MEETS PRESIDENT OF UAE, SHEIKH MOHAMED

Abu Dhabi: After attending the G7 Summit in Munich, Germany, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, on Tuesday and expressed his condolences for the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the former leader of the Gulf nation.


The meeting between the PM and UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan took place at the Abu Dhabi airport, according to a tweet from Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi. He was joined by prominent members of the Royal Family. 

Sheikh Khalifa was described by PM Modi as a superb statesman and a forward-thinking leader whose leadership enabled India-UAE relations to flourish. India had declared Sheikh Khalifa's death to be a cause for one day of national mourning. After a protracted illness, Zayed Al Nahyan, who had been in office since 2004, passed away on May 13 at the age of 73.
