After successfully connecting to the national grid, the third unit of the UAE's Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant has delivered its first supply of carbon-free electricity.

The latest achievement in the country's clean energy drive comes just a few weeks after the reactor was turned on.

Unit 3 can produce up to 1,400 megawatts of zero-emission energy, assisting the UAE in its fight against climate change.

In June, the third unit of the Abu Dhabi plant received an operating licence.

The unit was connected to the UAE's transmission grid by Nawah Energy Company, the subsidiary of Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation in charge of the nuclear power plant's operation.
