Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has set clear deadlines for foreign Umrah pilgrims in preparation for the 2025 Hajj season. The last date to enter the country on an Umrah visa is April 13 (Shawal 15), while all pilgrims must leave Saudi Arabia by April 29. Failure to exit the country before this date will result in legal consequences.
The ministry has issued a strong warning to individuals, companies, and Umrah service agents to ensure compliance with these deadlines. Pilgrims overstaying or entering after the specified dates will be considered in violation of Saudi laws. Companies must report any overstays, and failure to do so can result in fines of up to SAR 100,000.
The measures aim to prevent the misuse of Umrah and visit visas for performing Hajj illegally, which has caused congestion and safety risks in previous years. Over 1,000 unauthorized pilgrims lost their lives during the 2024 Hajj season due to extreme heat and overcrowding.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia has temporarily suspended visa issuance—including Umrah, business, and visit visas—for citizens of 13 countries, including India. The suspension will remain in effect until mid-June, following the conclusion of the Hajj season.
The 2025 Hajj is expected to begin on June 6 and end on June 11, depending on the lunar calendar. The new rules are intended to ensure a safer and more organized pilgrimage experience for all registered participants.
