Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense, brought with him symbolic and historically rich gifts during his official visit to India aimed at further strengthening bilateral ties.

One of the highlights of his visit was the presentation of a large, glass-encased memento to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The gift was a black 'bisht'—an upper garment traditionally worn in the Arabian Gulf—once worn by the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the former Ruler of Dubai. The bisht represents decades of diplomatic friendship between the UAE and India. Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude, calling it “a very precious gift.”

For External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, Sheikh Hamdan presented the front page of an Arabic newspaper that documented the historic relations between India and Dubai.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh received a traditional Arabian dagger that belonged to UAE founding father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The silver dagger, known as a Saheli Khanjar, came in a decorative box featuring an image of Sheikh Zayed and his fort.

These meaningful gifts underscored the long-standing and deep-rooted diplomatic relationship between the two nations and emphasized the Crown Prince’s commitment to cultural and political goodwill.
