The UAE is currently experiencing a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring across the country. Coastal cities such as Dubai and Abu Dhabi have recorded daytime temperatures between 40°C and 44°C, while inland areas are witnessing even higher temperatures ranging from 42°C to 45°C. The highest temperature recorded so far was 46.2°C in Bada Dhafas in the Al Dhafra region at 2 PM today.
Mountainous regions are seeing relatively lower temperatures, ranging from 35°C to 39°C, offering some respite from the intense heat. The National Center of Meteorology has attributed the rising temperatures to seasonal atmospheric pressure fluctuations common between April and May. This period also marks an increase in daylight hours, contributing to a noticeable rise in temperatures — 3 to 5 degrees higher than in March.
Tomorrow's weather is expected to be mostly clear and partly cloudy, with winds blowing from the southeast to the northeast. Wind speeds will range between 10 and 25 km/h, possibly reaching up to 35 km/h at times. The Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman are expected to remain calm.
Authorities have urged residents, especially in coastal and inland areas, to take necessary precautions as the heatwave is expected to persist and intensify in the coming days.
