Dubai: Private schools in Dubai are set to raise tuition fees for the 2025-26 academic year after the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) approved a 2.35% Education Cost Index (ECI). The index was calculated based on audited financial reports submitted by schools, in collaboration with the Digital Dubai Authority.
The ECI accounts for key operational costs such as teacher salaries, service charges, and rent, and aims to support schools in maintaining educational quality. Schools eligible for a fee hike can apply for an increase of up to 2.35%, but not beyond that limit. Institutions operating for less than three years are not eligible for a fee adjustment.
All private schools have been instructed by KHDA to submit their proposed fee structures for review. Each application will be assessed to ensure it meets regulatory standards and is justified by cost factors.
Shamma Al Mansouri, Director of Licensing and Education Services at KHDA, stated that the methodology behind the ECI is transparent and data-driven. Currently, there are 227 private schools in Dubai, with 387,441 students from 185 nationalities. The sector experienced a 12% enrollment growth in 2023–24 and a 6% rise in 2024–25.
Dubai’s education landscape continues to expand, with 15 new schools launched in the past two years and over 20 new applications under review for future openings.
