The newly revamped website of Norka Roots is drawing complaints from expatriates who find it difficult to use. Launched a month and a half ago, the site requires users to complete a dual-OTP verification process—one via email and the other via mobile—just to renew or apply for a new membership card.
This process is proving to be a major hurdle, particularly for users unfamiliar with email systems or those who have lost their login credentials and are struggling to recover their accounts.
Adding to their woes, the fee for services has seen a 10 percent hike, jumping from Rs 315 to Rs 408. This increase, coupled with technical challenges, has led to growing frustration among the expatriate community.
Users now also need to provide their NRO account number—rather than just regular account details—when renewing memberships or claiming insurance. This change is causing issues for many who hold NRI accounts instead.
Moreover, the lack of a WhatsApp contact option for the Norka Help Desk means users have no easy way to resolve their queries. For many expatriates, this is the first time in 18 years they’ve faced such extensive problems with the system.
