Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the addition of six new dedicated taxi and bus lanes, spanning a total of 13 kilometers. This expansion has significantly reduced travel times by 41 percent and improved bus arrival accuracy by 42 percent.

The newly introduced lanes are located on Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Street, 2nd of December Street, Al Satwa, Al Nahda, Omar Bin Al-Khattab, and Naif Street. These additions bring the total length of dedicated lanes in Dubai to 20 kilometers.

To prevent misuse by private vehicles, the lanes are clearly marked in red, and violators face a fine of AED 600.

RTA confirmed that nearly 90 percent of Dubai’s bus fleet now utilizes these dedicated lanes. With a fleet of 1,390 buses operating 11,000 trips daily, the public transport system serves over half a million passengers and covers approximately 333,000 kilometers every day.

Matar Al Tayer, Director General of RTA and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, stated that this initiative is part of a broader plan to improve connectivity across residential, commercial, and industrial zones by enhancing integration between buses and the Dubai Metro system.
