Dubai's KHDA introduces new technical guides for private school staffing

  • 11/09/2025

Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has implemented two new technical guides to improve staffing standards in private schools. The Technical Guide for Appointing Teaching Staff and the Staff Deregistration Technical Guide establish clear requirements for educator qualifications, conduct, and accountability, aligning with the Education 33 Strategy's focus on student well-being and educational excellence.

Dr. Amna Almaazmi, CEO of Growth and Human Development at KHDA, has emphasized that empowering educators is central to the strategy's success. The appointment guide introduces standardized qualification criteria, mandatory appointment notices, a 90-day rule for mid-term resignations, exit surveys, and compulsory induction training. The deregistration guide outlines procedures for handling serious misconduct, including criminal convictions, child protection breaches, and repeated professional violations that could result in permanent prohibition from KHDA-regulated institutions.

These policies aim to reduce mid-year teacher turnover, maintain consistent quality standards, and strengthen Dubai's position as a global education destination. All new teachers must immediately comply, while existing educators have until September 2028 to meet the new standards.
