  • 13/09/2025

The UAE will conclude its annual midday work ban on September 15, ending the seasonal protection measure that prohibited outdoor work between 12:30 PM and 3:00 PM since June 15. Now in its 21st year, this initiative has become a fundamental component of the country's occupational health and safety framework, achieving 99.9 percent compliance in 2023 according to ministry data.

The ban was implemented to protect outdoor workers from extreme summer temperatures and prevent heat-related illnesses including dehydration, fatigue, and sunstroke. During the prohibition period, employers were required to suspend all outdoor work while providing shaded resting areas, drinking water, and other preventive measures for workers.

The high compliance rates reflect successful collaboration between private companies and authorities in implementing worker protection measures. The seasonal restriction demonstrates the UAE's ongoing commitment to occupational safety standards while addressing the challenges posed by the region's extreme summer climate conditions.
