Dubai Expands EV Network with 100 New Chargers at Key City Locations

  • 05/10/2025

Dubai is significantly expanding its electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure through a new partnership between the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Parkin Company. The agreement's first phase will see the installation of 100 EV chargers at key locations throughout the city, including residential areas, shopping malls, and entertainment centers, with plans for a wider rollout across the emirate in the future.

Under this collaboration, Parkin will manage the customer service and user experience through its smart application, while DEWA will be responsible for the seamless operation and maintenance of the "Green Charger" infrastructure. This division of labor aims to ensure the network's reliability and excellent performance for all users.

This infrastructure push aligns with a major surge in EV adoption within the UAE. A recent study by Roland Berger found that over 52% of UAE residents are now choosing to buy or lease electric vehicles, largely due to lower operating costs. The UAE is the regional leader in EV sales, with approximately 24,000 units sold in 2024, far outpacing its GCC neighbors.
