FORMER KERALA TENNIS PLAYER TANVI BHATT COMMITS SUICIDE IN DUBAI

Dubai: Former Kerala tennis player Tanvi Bhatt (21) has committed suicide in Dubai. Tanvi is a native of Elamakkara, Ernakulam. In 2012, she won the girls' title at the Under-14 Asian Series in Doha.


Tanvi, who won gold at several national and state championships, withdrew from the tennis world due to a knee injury. She underwent surgery twice.

At the age of 17, she suffered a spinal injury and withdrew from the world of tennis. This was followed by mental distress. She was a psychology student at Harriet Watt and Middlesex College, Dubai.

Father: Dr. Sanjay Bhatt, her mother Lailan and brother Aditya are former Kerala players. The body was taken home.
