Doha: Qatar has divided countries into two lists, Green and Red, as well as a secondary list of Exceptional Red Countries, based on international and local health risk indicators and Covid-19 epidemiology in each country.

Following a large increase in daily Covid-19 instances, Qatari authorities have added many nations to the red and extraordinary red lists of its Travel and Return policy. Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America have all been transferred from the Green List to the Red List by Qatar's Ministry of Public Health. The latest inclusion brings the total number of nations on the red list to 57, and it will take effect at 7 p.m. Qatari time on Saturday, January 8, 2022.

Returning passengers from countries on the Red List must receive a PCR test no later than 72 hours before arrival in Qatar if they are vaccinated, or face quarantine if they are not. Non-residents must stay in a hotel for up to two days after arriving in the nation until their PCR test results are announced. Quarantine is not required for Qatar nationals or residents who have received all of their vaccinations.

Meanwhile, nine countries remain on the Exceptional Red List: Egypt, Nepal, Bangladesh, Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Pakistan, India, and Zimbabwe.
