The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has officially discontinued its birth and death registration services. According to a report by Gulf News, these services will now be handled by Emirates Health Services (EHS), marking a significant shift in the registration process for residents.
Previously managed by the Ministry, birth and death certificate services—including WhatsApp-based requests—will now be processed through EHS. The transition aims to streamline procedures and make the services more accessible through digital platforms.
Residents in the northern emirates—Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah—can access these services via the EHS website. In Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the Department of Health (DoH) and Dubai Health Authority (DHA) will continue overseeing the services respectively.
Certificates issued and authenticated by DoH, DHA, or EHS are considered equivalent to those previously certified by MoHAP. As per UAE law, births must be registered within 30 days and deaths within 72 hours.
Applicants can access these services using their UAE Pass. Services include requesting birth or death certificates, issuing replacements for lost certificates, obtaining authenticated copies, and making corrections. These can be accessed through the EHS website, public health centers, or EHS-affiliated hospitals.
Fees and procedures may vary depending on the issuing authority, but the move aims to enhance the user experience and ensure a more unified and efficient registration system across the UAE.
