Vienna: The Sultanate of Oman has underscored its dedication to sustainable urban development by taking part in the 14th World Cities Summit Mayors Forum (WCSMF 2025), hosted in Vienna, Austria, under the theme ‘Liveable and Sustainable Cities: Local Solutions, Global Impact’.

Led by His Excellency Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Hamidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, the Omani delegation joined mayors, urban planners and policymakers from around the world to share knowledge, discuss best practices and explore innovative solutions for resilient, inclusive cities.

The forum featured interactive sessions covering affordable housing, municipal service delivery, the urban energy transition, and water resilience. Participants also took part in site visits to some of Vienna’s notable urban projects, including Karl-Marx-Hof, Seestadt Aspern, Nordbahnhof Quartier and Danube Island, gaining insights into cutting-edge sustainable development models.

Through this engagement, Oman has strengthened its ties with global city networks, reinforcing its commitment to modern urban planning frameworks and future-ready infrastructure. The event, co-organised by Singapore’s Centre for Liveable Cities, Urban Redevelopment Authority, and Urban Innovation Vienna, concluded with cities pledging to enhance collaboration to tackle urban challenges and shape a more sustainable future for communities worldwide.
