Riyadh: The Saudi government's decision to allow direct travel to Saudi Arabia from countries that have imposed travel bans in the covid case is in effect. The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority said in a circular to airlines that the exemption was effective for those returning from Saudi Arabia after completing vaccination.

Accordingly, EgyptAir will begin service to Saudi Arabia from September 1, officials said. Egypt is one of the countries where travel is banned. The resumption of service was announced by their national airline. India is one of the banned countries. However, no decision has been taken on the launch of flights between India and Saudi Arabia.

The circular says that the travel ban imposed on various countries since the outbreak of ovid has been relaxed and those who have gone to the banned countries from Saudi Arabia after completing the Covid vaccination can return. Only those with a Saudi iqama and two injections of the vaccine in Saudi Arabia are exempt from the travel ban. But the journey must comply with all the conditions set out to prevent the spread of Covid.

Failure to do so will result in disciplinary action as ordered by the government. Although the new decision has taken effect, it is not clear how travel to Saudi Arabia will be allowed from travel-restricted countries such as India. Regular flights have not been resumed due to the current travel ban between India and Saudi Arabia.
