Doha: Qatar's Ministry of Education ready to make major changes in education. The ministry will now directly recruit teachers and office workers from abroad. The appointments will be made by private schools and the private school licensing department, government sources said. The decision was welcomed by private schools.

In addition to schools, access to kindergarten will now be through the government. Rashid Ahmad Al Amiri, head of the private school department, said the decision would give a new impetus to the education sector, which is preparing to start a new academic year in line with Covid standards.

Amiri added that they are also planning to provide textbooks to private schools. The government plans to distribute books on Arabic, Islamic studies and Qatari history.
