Doha: Action against two companies found to have falsified repatriation procedures in Qatar. The lawsuit was filed against a company operating in the insurance sector and another company operating in the communications and IT sector. The Qatari Ministry of Labor issued a statement detailing this.

A statement from the Ministry of Labor said the move was a violation of the country's policies on the repatriation of jobs in the private sector. It was found that expatriates were recruited in the private sector without obtaining a work permit from the ministry.

The companies were prosecuted under Section 23 of the Qatar Labor Code. Special permission from the Ministry of Labor is required to employ expatriates in repatriated occupations as per the rules and regulations related to it. Permission to recruit expatriates can be obtained only if none of the eligible nationals are registered to work in this post.

The Ministry of Labor has said it will take strict action against violators of the rules on repatriation of jobs in the private sector. Inspections will be tightened to detect violations. Violations of the rules and notices will result in disciplinary action. The companies are being monitored as part of efforts to remove barriers to the employment of indigenous men and women in the country in private sector companies.
