Jeddah Airport Introduces 70 AI-Powered E-Gates for Faster Travel

  • 01/03/2025

Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport has taken a major step towards modernization by introducing 70 AI-powered e-gates, streamlining the check-in and departure process. Inaugurated by Prince Saud bin Mishal, the new system is designed to enhance security and reduce passenger wait times while ensuring a seamless, paperless travel experience. The e-gates utilize advanced biometric verification and facial recognition technology, allowing travelers to move through checkpoints without manually presenting their documents.

These high-tech e-gates, installed in Terminal 1 and Executive Office Facilities, are expected to benefit up to 175,000 passengers daily. Each gate can process 2,500 travelers, significantly improving airport efficiency and reducing congestion. This upgrade aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to integrate smart solutions into its aviation sector.

Jeddah is now the third major Saudi airport to implement this technology, following the successful rollout at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Neom Bay Airport. In 2024, King Abdulaziz International Airport handled over 49.1 million passengers across 278,000 flights, and the new system is expected to further enhance passenger convenience and operational efficiency.
