Saudi Arabia Leads in Women's Workforce and Entrepreneurship Growth

According to the General Authority for Statistics, Saudi Arabia has seen remarkable progress in women's participation in the workforce and business sector. As of the third quarter of 2024, 36.2% of Saudi women were active in the labor market, with a labor force ratio of 31.3%. The number of women in senior management positions reached 78,356, while over 551,000 women were registered as self-employed entrepreneurs in 2023. Additionally, freelance work has gained traction, with 449,725 Saudi women obtaining freelance permits last year.

The report also highlights the growing presence of women in the tourism sector, with 111,259 Saudi women employed in tourism-related jobs in 2024. Experts note that Saudi Arabia is making significant strides in women's empowerment, outpacing many Gulf and MENA countries. Compared to most Asian nations, Saudi Arabia has positioned itself as a leader in female workforce participation and entrepreneurship, reflecting the success of recent economic and social reforms.
