The Riyadh Public Transport Company has announced the addition of two new stations to the Riyadh Metro’s Orange Line (Line 3), named Railway Station and Jarir District Station. This strategic expansion aims to strengthen the city’s railway infrastructure and provide smoother transportation options for daily commuters.
The Orange Line spans 40.7 kilometers, stretching from the Medina Road axis to Prince Saad bin Abdulrahman Road. It became fully operational on January 5, 2025, completing the phased rollout of the city’s extensive metro network.
With the earlier launches of the Blue (Line 1), Yellow (Line 4), and Purple (Line 6) on December 1, 2024, and the Red (Line 2) and Green (Line 5) on December 15, Riyadh’s six-line metro network is now entirely functional.
Operated by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), the Riyadh Metro is the largest metro system in the Middle East and the longest driverless train network globally. The network stretches across 176 kilometers, includes 85 stations, and features four major interchange hubs.
Since its launch, the metro has witnessed strong public adoption, completing over 162,000 trips and serving more than 18 million passengers in just 75 days. The total distance covered by the system now exceeds 4.5 million kilometers, highlighting its critical role in transforming urban mobility in Riyadh.
