Jeddah: Pilgrims traveling for Hajj and Umrah can now enjoy added comfort with the introduction of the new 'Cooler Ihram Garment' by Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia. Designed to help regulate body temperature during rituals, the garment was unveiled in celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Day and will be showcased at the Arabian Travel Market 2025 in Dubai starting April 28.
Saudia announced that pilgrims flying on its services will begin receiving the innovative garments starting in June. The Cooler Ihram is available for both men and women and adheres to the religious guidelines of Islamic Ihram.
Crafted with patented cooling minerals, the fabric offers UPF 50 sun protection and has a quick-drying capability, providing much-needed relief from the intense heat during pilgrimage. Developed in collaboration with U.S.-based firms Lander and Br!, this garment aims to combine tradition with technology for a more comfortable spiritual experience.
Essam Akhunbey, Vice President of Marketing at Saudia Airlines, said, “With innovations like 'Cooler Ihram', our guests can focus on what matters most and ensure their comfort.” Luke Spicer, Global Director of Strategy and Creative at Lander, added that the product strengthens Saudia's brand globally and enhances the pilgrimage journey for travelers.
