Over One Million Pilgrims Benefited from Saudi Arabia’s Mecca Route Initiative

Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry has announced that more than one million pilgrims have benefited from the Mecca Route Initiative, launched to facilitate a seamless Hajj journey. Now in its seventh year, the initiative is a joint effort involving key Saudi government entities, including the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, Media, the SDAIA, and the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority.

As part of Saudi Vision 2030, the Mecca Route Initiative simplifies pre-travel procedures for pilgrims from seven countries — Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Turkey, and Côte d'Ivoire — across 11 airports. The initiative includes biometric data collection, issuance of electronic Hajj visas, and verification of health protocols before departure.

Pilgrims' luggage is carefully tagged and transported according to accommodation arrangements, ensuring smooth transfers upon arrival in Makkah and Madinah. Multilingual staff and cutting-edge technologies help make the process efficient and stress-free.

Launched in 2019, the initiative is a flagship component of Vision 2030's goal to enrich pilgrim experience by reducing administrative burdens and making their spiritual journey more fulfilling and efficient.
