Cairo: Official figures released by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj confirm that approximately 666,000 foreign pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia for Hajj 2025, which is scheduled to begin early next month.
As of the latest update, 665,722 pilgrims have entered the Kingdom, with a significant majority—642,148—arriving by air. Additionally, 20,753 pilgrims arrived by land, while 2,821 entered via sea routes. The ministry reported that the preparations to receive pilgrims are progressing smoothly and that inter-agency cooperation within the country has been effectively coordinated.
Saudi authorities expect the number of pilgrims to increase in the coming days as the Hajj season reaches its peak. To further streamline the pilgrimage experience, Saudi Arabia is implementing the "Makkah Route" Initiative, designed to expedite airport procedures for pilgrims from select countries.
Launched officially in 2018, the initiative facilitates pre-departure immigration and customs procedures at 11 international airports across seven countries—Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Morocco, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Côte d'Ivoire. This program aims to improve service quality and enhance the travel experience for pilgrims heading to the holy sites.
With the annual pilgrimage drawing millions of Muslims from around the world, Saudi Arabia continues to enhance logistical support and services to ensure a safe and spiritually fulfilling Hajj for all attendees.
