Saudi security authorities have arrested 20,882 individuals for violating residency, labor, and border security laws during nationwide inspection campaigns conducted between August 28 and September 3. The Ministry of Interior has reported that among those detained, 12,975 violated residency laws, 4,185 breached border security regulations, and 3,722 contravened labor laws.
The ministry has referred 22,550 violators to their diplomatic missions for travel documentation, while 2,394 have been processed for travel reservations and 10,895 have been deported. Among those attempting illegal border crossings, 66 percent were Ethiopian citizens, 33 percent were Yemeni nationals, and one percent represented other nationalities. Authorities have also arrested 21 individuals attempting to exit the country illegally and approximately 20 people for providing transportation, housing, or employment to violators.
The Ministry of Interior has emphasized severe penalties for those facilitating illegal entry, including imprisonment of up to 15 years and fines reaching one million riyals, with confiscation of vehicles and properties used in these activities. The public has been encouraged to report violations through designated emergency numbers across different regions.
