Doha: The Qatari Ministry of Interior has issued a strong warning to travelers about the dangers of carrying other people’s luggage at airports. Many expatriates have found themselves in serious legal trouble after unknowingly holding bags containing illegal items.
The ministry emphasized that carrying someone else’s luggage can lead to delays in travel procedures and even legal consequences. A recent advisory from the Ministry of Interior (MoI) urged passengers never to accept bags without knowing their contents, as they will be held fully responsible if prohibited items are found inside.
Additionally, the ministry warned against bringing restricted substances or medications into Qatar, as some items permitted in a traveler’s home country may be banned. Travelers were also advised to avoid suspicious individuals and to report any crimes they witness, reinforcing the importance of shared security responsibilities.
